Anger Management Training is a Lesson in Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand one’s own feelings and behavior as well as the capacity to sense the feelings and needs of others and to utilize this information in a way that enhances interpersonal relationships.

Emotional Intelligence is also the capacity to create positive outcomes in your relationships with others and yourself.

Anger Management is a course designed to teach self-awareness, self-control, social awareness and relationship management. These are Daniel Golemans’s four domains of emotional intelligence as well as the core skill enhancements in anger management.

Therefore, all clients learn an important lesson by simply completing the comprehensive anger management assessment at intake. Skills in these areas are assessed prior to anger management classes.

Participants who score in the deficit or needs to improve categories are taught skill enhancement exercises which can be practised in all of their daily interactions with others. The key to increasing emotional intelligence and self-control is to practice skill enhancement in the areas in which your scores are in the deficit or average range. Assertive communication, empathy, stress management, anger management as well as relationship management are all part of anger management skill enhancement programs. (After George Anderson)

Anger Management Prevents Hostile Work Environment Claims

Enlightened Human Resource Managers recognize the value of taking action quickly when any violence in the workplace policy is violated. Doing nothing is an invitation to “hostile workplace” liability lawsuits.

Physical altercations are far less common than verbal behavior that is interpreted by the victim as demeaning, threatening, arrogant or disruptive.

Anger Management rather than counseling is the intervention of choice for interpersonal conflicts at work.

When mandating anger management to an employee, it is best for the Human Resource Manager to personally contact Dr. Steven J. Sinert, a Certified Anger Management Provider prior to making the referral.

Legitimate Anger Management Facilitators offer their services in person rather than on-line. We use Pre and Post Assessments for each client. We use client workbooks and provide anger management either individually or in small groups.

Finally, we are accustomed to working with Human Resource referrals and dealing with resistant clients. We are acutely aware of the need to provide appropriate feedback to Human Resource Managers. (After George Anderson)

What is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the ability to recognize and understand emotions in yourself and others and your ability to use this awareness to manage your behavior and relationships.

Emotional Intelligence is a component of the Nevada Anger Management course. Improving and enhancing EQ will significantly improve an individual's ability to control anger.

EQ is not IQ.

IQ is a measurement of our intelligence and is a rather static unchanging number throughout our lives. It reaches a plateau and basically remains there throughout our lives regardless of our education level.

EQ on the other hand can be enhanced by learning more about what it is and what it measures.

EQ testing is not part of our Anger Management program; however, we have available an in depth Emotional Intelligence testing program at additional cost.

The Intake Examination

Dr. Steven J. Sinert of Nevada Anger Management uses the Conover Assessment Examination for Anger Management. This is a written test which allows the creation of an Anger Management Map and measures the parameters of Stress Management, Interpersonal Assertion, Interpersonal Aggression, Empathy, Interpersonal Deference and Personal Change Orientation in our students.

We use the identical examination upon completion of our Anger Management program to compare the pre-course and post-course results of the training.

These examinations are a significant part of our program in that they show the individual's anger control improvement.

A Student's Testimonial

Dr. Sinert's anger management course gave me the ability to understand why I have anger and how to deal with it in a constructive manner. Dr. Sinert drives home that anger is a secondary response that can be controlled with tools that are taught in the course. The course has improved my communication skills with my wife which has improved our relationship. We all know that this is worth its weight in gold. You will find that Dr. Sinert is an extremely intelligent man who really cares about his clients. BR

When is an Anger Management Course Necessary?

There are five signs that anger is problematic in a person's life:

1) When Anger is too frequent.
2) When Anger is too intense.
3) When Anger lasts too long.
4) When Anger leads to aggression.
5) When Anger destroys relationships.

If you are exhibiting any of these signs, it's time for an Anger Management training program.

From Nevada Anger Management & Dr. Steven J. Sinert

My good friend, George Anderson, recently posted this blog on his site. I believe it is so important I am re-posting it here with his permission.

2009 Trends in Anger Management February 16th, 2009

Cheap, inexpensive, free and useless

Perhaps, out of desperation, a number of anger management providers have introduced online anger management classes. Courts and Human Resource Managers do not generally accept these classes. Some of these courses are free. Others are offered at unrealistically low fees from $35 to $79. Most are simply schemes to dupe unwitting consumers into signing up for bogus Certificate of Completion of non-existing anger management classes. Most legitimate providers are not engaged in these schemes.

Evidenced Based Anger Management takes hold worldwide

Anger management classes, which include a structured curriculum, validated assessment, client workbooks, DVDs, videos and Post Tests are gaining recognition, endorsements and use worldwide. Canada and the UK have endorsed the internationally recognized Anderson & Anderson Model of Anger Management.

Unhealthy Anger is one of the unfortunate consequences of the current recession

Human Resource Managers from Businesses, various Industries, Courts and the Criminal Justice System are all overwhelmed with employees whose lives have been impacted by the current downturn of the economy. Anger is a secondary emotion that is symptomatic of depression, anxiety, stress, worry or fatigue.

CNN, ABC, New York Times and the Washington Post

News networks and Newspaper Publishers are now routinely contacting legitimate Certified Anger Management Facilitators to comment on anger episodes such as the recent Christian Bales tirade and the unfortunate violence involving the R&B singers Rihanna and Chris Brown.
While it is only February, it is already clear that 2009 will be the most important year for professional anger management intervention worldwide.

Nevada Anger Management Testimonial from a Parent

“I cannot thank you enough for taking the time out of your day for expressing such care and concern for my child. That is certainly not what I expected to stumble upon when I dialed your telephone number. I simply assumed that I would be forwarded directly to a voicemail or answering service; obviously this was not the case.

The advice that you provided me with makes a great deal of sense. I am truly thankful that we had the opportunity to speak and I appreciate the questions that you posed as well as the personal inquiries.

Considering my son acknowledges his "anger" coupled with the fact that he has requested to speak with someone who will be able to help him, I am 150% dedicated to finding someone with whom he is comfortable. He's an amazing boy, A/B honor roll, the eldest of 3 children, however; he is a bit shy, easily frustrated, easily irritated and can experience some anxiety from time to time followed by the "anger."

Again, I thank you for your care, concern, questions and inquiries; your patients are truly blessed to have you on their side.”...Christine S.

Nevada Anger Management on Spousal Anger

Is Your Spouse’s Anger Interfering With Your Happiness?

According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, happiness is a state of well-being and contentment. If you are regularly exposed to anger and arguments how can you be living in a state of well-being or contentment? Obviously you cannot.

Most individuals just don’t know how to handle anger. They behave in the only ways they know how, ways they learned as a child listening to parents or siblings fight and argue or with an emotional response embedded in us and going back to the beginning of man and woman.

Anger is the response to a perceived attack, whether verbal or physical. It is aggressive in nature as the result of a perceived aggression towards us. It is an animalistic response.

Are there better ways to respond? Absolutely!

And that’s what Nevada Anger Management and Dr. Steven J. Sinert do. We teach you a better way to respond without aggression, without anger, to make your life happier.

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect; it just means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections. But without Anger Management Training you cannot see clearly. Whether you or your spouse are angry, isn’t it time for either or both of you to work out the imperfections in your interpersonal relationship and see what real happiness is.

Anger Management Training is not therapy. We do not use medications. We teach Anger Management skills, Stress Management skills, how to improve your Communication ability and how to enhance your Emotional Intelligence.

This program really works if you’re motivated to put happiness back in your relationships and in your lives.

For more information, please visit our website at
www.nevadaangermanagement.com or better yet, give us a call or drop us an email. We respond quickly because we want you to be happy.

NEVADA ANGER MANAGEMENT TRAINING TESTIMONIAL

"Things had once again reached a toll and I could no longer endure the ongoing and frequent consequences of my anger. Hurting the ones closest to me and not achieving my full potential at work had been a recurring theme in my life for far too long. First I sent an email to Dr. Sinert after finding Nevada Anger Management on the web. He promptly responded with a sincere, friendly message of encouragement to call him so we could set up an appointment. I hesitated because I was initially uncomfortable with the idea of it all. I finally set the appointment and some relief quickly came after making this kind of a commitment to myself.

"During our first meeting I was put at ease and felt very comfortable with Dr. Sinert’s emphasis on using an educational approach as opposed to a therapeutic approach to anger management. This is what really allowed me to actually learn all about my stress, mounting frustrations, and anger outbursts. I have since learned amazingly simple and positive solutions to what I once perceived as insurmountable obstacles. Educating me on others’ and my anger response has provided me the necessary knowledge and insight required for lasting change.

"Dr. Sinert’s constant emphasis on the fundamentals and on the importance of controlling the way I respond to others – rather than attempting to control the way others respond to me – has proven to be invaluable in all of my professional and personal relationships. My ability to do my job well has increased dramatically in very important ways. I can even communicate positively when others push my buttons. As a result, everyone close to me has benefited from my commitment to being involved with Dr. Sinert and the Anderson and Anderson approach to anger management. I highly recommend everyone's involvement in this program!"...CM
