Where Does Your Anger Come From?

Anger is a very complex emotion. In fact it is a secondary emotion which always has another emotion occurring first. Anger itself arises when you sense or perceive that you’re being attacked. That attack can be verbal or physical.

Let’s use the following example to understand the angry response a bit more clearly.

I’m sure you know the game Ping Pong also called table tennis. Say you’re on one side of the table and someone is serving the ball toward you. Your normal reaction to the ball is to hit or slam it back toward your opponent.

Now, let’s assume for a moment that the ping pong ball represents an attack upon you. When you hit the ball back this is your angry response. This is an aggressive response and your opponent will also respond aggressively and hit it back toward you again. If this continues over and over this is called an argument.

So, what you need to learn is how to behave differently, how to recognize that attack and how to stop hitting the ball back and forth.

The same way a carpenter uses tools to construct a house, we’re going to teach you the mental tools you need to respond to that perceived attack upon you.

Additionally, we will teach you Stress Management, how to enhance your Emotional Intelligence and how to improve your Communications.

Control your anger before it controls you!
