Can Humor Help Relieve Anger?

It has been said that humor can make you feel good. It can improve your health. It can ease your stress, anxiety and fears. And most importantly it might even reduce your anger.

A humorous thought or joke can not only make you smile and laugh, it can cause the release of endorphins in the brain which will have the effect of producing a feeling of well being. And that in turn can reduce blood pressure, stress, anxieties, fears and anger.

Remember that anger is a normal emotion. It becomes abnormal when that anger evokes a response that may be harmful to our interpersonal relationships.

Everyone loves a good joke or humorous story. Of course, what might be humorous to one individual might not be to another. However, by reading or listening to a few jokes or humorous stories we are sure to find a few which will cause a smile or even a good laugh.

We have all heard that laughter is the best medicine. It won’t cure a broken bone and it might not heal a serious illness. But it might just make you better able to cope with a situation which in turn might be producing fear, anxiety, stress and anger.

And if we can manage anger, we can all feel a whole lot better.
